Meeting convened at 1:51 p.m. by David Worrells, 2006-2007 President.
ROLL CALL

ORIENTATION
1. D. Worrells reviewed the duties and responsibilities of the Faculty Senate.
2. R. Viswanathan reviewed the duties and responsibilities of the offices of vice president and secretary.
3. Standing Committee chairs from 2006-2007 reviewed the roles of their respective committees. D. Worrells asked Senators to think about their committee preferences so those could be collected following election of officers.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
1. D. Worrells reviewed the voting procedures for the election. He then opened the floor to nominations for President, noting that one candidate, R. Viswanathan, had previously announced his candidacy. Hearing no other nominations, a motion was approved to close nominations.
R. Viswanathan was elected President for 2007-08.
2. D. Worrells opened the floor to nominations for Vice President, noting that one candidate, P. Stockdale, had previously announced her candidacy. Hearing no other nominations, a motion was approved to close nominations.
P. Stockdale was elected Vice President for 2007-08.
3. D. Worrells opened the floor to nominations for Secretary, noting that he is so far the only declared candidate. Hearing no other nominations, a motion was approved to close nominations.
D. Worrells was elected Secretary for 2007-08.
ELECTION OF COMMITTEE ON COMMITTEES
D. Worrells reported there are three vacancies on the Committee on Committees. R. Viswanathan indicated that he would be resigning his membership on the committee. D. Worrells reported that there will be four vacancies on the committee, three for two year terms and one for a one year term. He then opened the floor to nominations/volunteers to fill the four vacancies. The following people were nominated to serve: J. Davey, L. Vermeulen, K. Zivkovich and S. Kumar. J. Brown moved to close nominations; seconded by J. Allen. J. Allen moved that the nominations be approved by acclamation; seconded by G. Apgar.
Committee on Committees appointments were approved by acclamation.
It was noted that S. Kumar would serve the one year term.
COMMITTEE PREFERENCES
D. Worrells indicated there would be a brief adjournment to allow the Committee on Committees to elect its chair and make standing committee assignments. After a brief adjournment, committee assignments were announced. It was noted that assignments will be approved at the May 8 Senate meeting. In the meantime, committees should meet and elect a chair or designate a person to attend the May 1 Executive Council meeting.
