Meeting convened at 1:39 p.m. by William Recktenwald, 2011-2012 President.

ROLL CALL

ORIENTATION

1. W. Recktenwald welcomed new and returning Senators and had the new Senators introduce themselves. He advised Senators to visit the Faculty Senate's website for information. He then went over the duties and responsibilities of President and Secretary. G. Apgar reviewed the duties of the Vice President. The roles of each standing committee were also discussed.

2. A. Karnes explained his role as the faculty representative to the Faculty Advisory Council to the IBHE.

EELECTION OF OFFICERS

W. Recktenwald opened the floor for nominations for President. J. Kapur, D. Johnson, K. Asner-Self, M. Komarraju, T. Clark and K. Anderson were nominated. J. Kapur, D. Johnson, K. Asner-Self and T. Clark declined. U. Lakshmanan read a brief bio on behalf of M. Komarraju, and K. Anderson made a brief candidacy statement. Paper ballots were distributed for the vote for President.

M. Komarraju was elected President for 2012-2013.

W. Recktenwald opened the floor for nominations for Vice President. T. Clark and D. Johnson were both nominated. Each made brief candidacy statements. Paper ballots were distributed for the vote for Vice President.

T. Clark was elected Vice President for 2012-2013.

W. Recktenwald opened the floor for nominations for Secretary. K. Asner-Self and G. Boulukos were nominated, and each gave a brief candidacy statement. Paper ballots were distributed for the vote for Secretary.

K. Asner-Self was elected Secretary for 2012-2013.

ELECTION OF COMMITTEE ON COMMITTEES

W. Recktenwald reported that there are four vacancies to be filled on the Committee on Committees for two year terms. As a result of the election of M. Komarraju as President, her seat on the Committee on Committees will need to be filled for the remainder of her one year term. Continuing members are T. Chu and Q. Ge. W. Recktenwald opened the floor to nominations/volunteers.

The following people were nominated and elected to serve: G. Boulukos, K. Anderson, D. Lind, C. Kingcade and B. DeVantier.

COMMITTEE PREFERENCES

W. Recktenwald asked that Senators turn in their committee preference forms so the Committee on Committees can begin determining standing committee assignments.
